Bi-annual staff party
Twice a year I hold a staff appreciation party, and these can range from events like a day at the horse races, a night out, etc. For our summer 2011 party which took place on June 25, I wanted to do something fun, but also educational, in a wedding sort of way. So... I came up with the Dream A Little Dream Events Olympics. I wanted to be able to teach the girls things that we need to be able to do on site at weddings, but also make it a fun day for them.
The premise was to have an obstacle course at the picnic site I rented at Corte Madera Town Park, and each girl would go through and be timed. The course ran like this:
1) Pin three boutonniere's on three women wearing men's suit jackets (turns out there was a rugby tournament in the park we were at, and we had a nice volunteer to assist us with this task!)
2) Alphabetize and arrange with mini clothes pins place cards
3) Light ten votive candles
4) Repair a cake that had been poked or damaged
5) Sew a button back onto a men's shirt
My other idea was to have a stack of gifts, and have them run them to the car, but I thought that might cause even more of a scene than we already were causing!
This first photo is of the girls convincing one of the rugby guys to be a stand in for our Olympics. He was more than happy to oblige.
I then had to explain the rules, plus the strategy of pinning boutonniere's, as it can be tricky, and sometimes, needs to be done in a few minutes
Then, the games began
The guys stretching behind us in their little shorts added to the games!
In the end, the girls did great, but of course, I beat everyone's times. We then had a picnic lunch with more champagne before packing up and heading to our next stop of the day, Polished Nail Salon for hot stone pedicures
We then hit up the local dive bar, The Silver Peso, to enjoy some beer, pool and shuffleboard
Cheers to my incredible team of hard working, selfless ladies who always go above and beyond! We were missing almost half of them at the party, but I am beyond proud of them all, and can't wait to plan our next festivity.
(plus a special thank you below to all the vendors that were a part of our day!)
Engagement Session with Jose Villa
am so thrilled to share these images that the wonderful Jose Villa
took of one of my 2012 couples, Krystal and Bernard, who are getting married next August. He did such a great job with capturing their spirit, and since I love sharing engagement sessions, I won't waste any more time and will get straight to the pictures!
Looking forward to their visit in two weeks to begin their design process. Congrats to Krystal and Bernard on such a beautiful engagement session!
Rutherford, Inverness and Burlingame
his weekend is a big one for the Dream A Little Dream Events team! We have three weddings over the course of the weekend, with one taking place today that I will be running at Beaulieu Garden Estate in Rutherford. It will be a very thoughtful, vintage styled wedding, with lots of different elements being brought in, with catering by Paula Le Duc
and flowers by Soulflower
. I will then be working again with Soulflower on Sunday at a lovely wedding that will be taking place at a private home in Inverness. Componere
will be catering this very meaningful affair (the bride and groom met when they were only eleven years old, and came back together fifteen years later!) with tenting and rentals from Hartmann Studios
Brittani will be working a wedding on Sunday as well at the Kohl Mansion
in Burlingame. This wedding will be so incredible, I have been seeing a lot of the items brought to our office, and it looks to be a beautiful event. Melon's
will be catering, and I know Nancy Liu Chin
will be adoring the tables with her stunning flowers!
If you notice, all three weddings are taking place on off days (non-Saturday's), which has definitely been a huge trend this year. We can't wait to share all the images from Alisha + Brook
and Lisa Wiseman
Have a wonderful weekend,
The DALD Events staff giving back
This past Sunday, some of the Dream A Little Dream Events staff joined the Wedding & Event Professionals team for the 25th Annual AIDS Walk in San Francisco. We walked a little over six miles, and raised almost $1500 as a team. Not only did Adrianna, Taryn, Caitlin and myself participate, but my fiance Joe and Adrianna's boyfriend Jake joined in the fun as well. We also brought Adrianna and Jake's two dogs, Maddox and Pebbles, and our dog Frank. It was such a great day to not only be a part of something bigger than all of us, but to do it as a team.

We are now gearing up for the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure on Sunday September 25th in San Francisco. If you would like to join us or to support our fundraising efforts, please click here
