Do you wish there was a way to reduce the number of details you need to worry about right before your wedding day? I have just the thing; it's the shellac or gel manicure. I am telling you this is the way to go! What is it exactly? I asked the same question when I tried it out for the first time (I am now converted). It's a combination of regular nail polish and UV gel that when dry creates a long lasting beautiful glossy manicure (no chipping for at least 2 weeks). It's applied just like regular nail polish and is dried by using a UV lamp. These are also referred to as gel polishes, so you can inquire with your local nail salon and see what they are carrying.
When I say long lasting I mean it! You know it works when the nail technicians themselves are flaunting perfect glossy fingers at the end of a long day. I myself sported my last shellac mani for four weeks and had no chips, just nail growth (and that included a beach vacation). PLUS you don't have to wait for your nails to dry! Once they are done you can walk out the door and do not have to worry about smudging your nails when reaching for your keys. It's amazing! Due to the rise in popularity many fabulous nail spas now offer this service and the color selection has grown to rival that of the rainbow variety of OPI.
The best part is you can get your manicure the week of your wedding and your nails will look pristine through your honeymoon. What more could you ask for?!
* Kathryn adds: I just recently had my first gel manicure at my local nail salon, and I am in my second week with not a chip! I am extremely harsh on my hands between work and household chores, plus washing them constantly. This is a great find, as my usual manicure will only last about 3-4 days, tops. Looking forward to having pretty hands all through wedding season!
